A Significant Rise in Immigration Health Surcharge from January 2024:

Following the Government announcement on 13th July 2023 of their intention to increase the Immigration Health Surcharge no formal date was announced when this will be implemented.

The Immigration (Health Charge) Amendment Order 2023 confirms that on or after 16th January 2024, the Immigration Health Surcharge for most applicants will increase significantly from £624 to £1035 per year. For students and their dependents, or those on Youth Mobility Scheme and child applicants the fees are to increase from £470 per year to £776 per year.

The exact date for the increase is to be finalised once the Immigration (Health Charge) Amendment Order 2023 is laid before Parliament.

Top Tip: Employers funding employees from overseas and any future applicants should consider applying ahead of the rise where possible to avoid paying the increased fees.
