Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is very broadly defined and does not have to be physical, nor does it have to result in injury. It covers physical, emotional and psychological abuse. We understand the pain and distress caused by domestic abuse and take rapid action to ensure the protection of you and your loved ones.

The court can grant injunctions to protect you and these remedies are closely tailored to needs and specific situations. Non-Molestation Injunctions can protect the individual, a child or other family members as well as property. Injunctions can remain in force for as long as the court orders and they can be for life. Occupation Orders can be coupled with Injunctions regulating the occupation of the family home. The Court also has the power to order a party to pay the rent, mortgage or other outgoings associated with the property.

We provide support in total confidence and will offer advice as to the legal remedies available, so you can make an educated decision about the next steps to take. We can obtain court orders to protect you from domestic abuse and exclude the perpetrator from your home. We also work closely with other organisations who offer additional support and advice throughout your case and moving forward.
