Skilled Worker Visa
The Skilled Worker visa, which replaced the Tier 2 (General) visa, allows foreign nationals to come to and work in the UK in eligible, skilled roles with a UK employer holding a valid sponsorship license.
This route allows UK-based employers to recruit overseas workers to fill a wide range of skilled vacancies in the UK
To qualify for the Skilled Worker Visa the following requirements need to be met;
- You are aged 18 or over;
- You have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for the job you are planning to do;
- Your job offer is a genuine vacancy and at the appropriate skill level;
- From 4 April 2024, the minimum salary requirement increased to £38,700 per year or your job's going rate, whichever is higher.
- You will be paid a salary which equals or exceeds both a general salary threshold and the ‘going rate’ for the applicable SOC 2020 occupation code;
- You are competent in the English language to at least CEFR Level B1 (equivalent to IELTS 4.0);
- You have enough money to support yourself (£1270) without relying on public funds;
- Provide a criminal record certificate, if applicable and
- You have provided a valid TB certificate, if applicable
This route can also lead to settlement and allows the applicant to bring their dependents.
