File closing administrator – Conveyancing – North End office

The role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a file closing administrator working in residential property. Supporting them in all day to day activities to include typing of correspondence, scanning of important documents, using Land Registry Portal (and other online applications) and ensuring that all files are kept in order and compliant with CQS and Lexcel quality standards. Although the role is based our Portsmouth office it may involve the successful candidates having to travel to provide cover in other offices therefore a degree of flexibility will be required.

The Ideal Candidate

A legal secretary who is pro-active, has excellent client care skills, the ability to work on their own initiative and has the following:

  • Previous experience of conveyancing procedures
  • Strong and efficient secretarial and admin skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good telephone manner
  • Fast, accurate typing ability
  • IT literate – Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience of using a case management system (although not essential as training will be provided)

This is a permanent position working 35 hours per week.

Immigration Solicitor/Executive, Portsmouth

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor/Legal Executive with Level 2 IAAS Accreditation to assist our team that deals with a wide variety of personal and business immigration matters.  Ideally, you will have 2+ years’ PQE within an immigration role, good academic qualifications. You will be expected to be able to deal with the following type of Legal Aid and privately funded matters:

  • Private applications under the immigration rules
  • EEA applications
  • Points based system applications
  • Sponsor licences
  • First-Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal appeals
  • Judicial Review
  • Unaccompanied asylum seeking minors

The Ideal Candidate

Pro-active and possess excellent client care skills as well as being a team player that thrives in an environment of shared goals and achievements to ensure the ongoing success of the team. Contributing to the growth of the immigration team, the candidate will also be able to stay up-to-date with changes and have excellent attention to detail. The ability to speak Arabic would be beneficial but not essential.

Legal Secretary/PA – Probate Department - Petersfield

We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary/PA to join our Probate Department to be based at our Petersfield office. Working directly with a Director you will support them in all day to day activities to include typing of correspondence, liaising with clients, and Courts, scanning of important documents and ensuring that all files are kept in order and compliant with Lexcel quality standards. You may be required to assist with cover at our Waterlooville and Portsmouth office from time to time.

Training Contracts – Biscoes Legal Services Limited

The role

We are looking to recruit two Trainee Solicitors to join Biscoes with particular interest in Immigration Law/Mental Health Law.

As a Trainee Solicitor, you will rotate seats every six months and have exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work, so that you can get as much experience as possible across a range of legal disciplines.

Biscoes welcomes applications from both law and non-law graduates who are able to demonstrate a high level of academic and personal achievements. You must have achieved your LPC examination to be eligible for a Training Contract with Biscoes.

 

The Ideal Candidate must also

  • Be able to meet the requirements as noted by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to be accepted as a Trainee Solicitor
  • Have the ability to take responsibility and use initiative to fulfil training seats and role
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Be highly organised, careful, reliable and conscientious
  • Have the ability to read and assimilate complex written information
  • Have the ability to proof read, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Have the ability to support and ensure legal matters are run in an organised and efficient manner
  • Have the ability to ensure client document and advice history are recorded in accordance with the firm procedures/case management system
  • Have the ability to manage competing priorities in order to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Have the confidence to deal with legal professionals and teams
  • Possess excellent IT skills
